Debra Armstrong

When human beings experience major life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. Debra’s greatest passion is to bring healing and support to people who have been through difficult times. With a degree in Social Work from the University of Calgary, Debra began her career with Alberta Child and Family Services where she focused on the safety and care of young children. Following, Debra moved to Calgary in order to work as a Community Social Worker. Within that role, her responsibilities included various leadership roles with youth crime and Disaster Social Services.

In 2005, Debra became the Executive Director of intergenerational programs throughout Alberta. She has taken her evidence-based practice to training sessions throughout the province. Her dedication and commitment were recognized in 2013 by the Government of Alberta who awarded Debra the Senior Services Award. The following year, Debra was appointment to the Alberta Senior Advisory Council.

Today, Debra helps to improve the lives of thousands of vulnerable families in 28 Calgary communities. She is grateful for the many years of support from her grown children Dale, Michelle and Derek, and her patient and loving husband Steve.
