“Youth are really focused on inclusion right now. They told us they wanted to see more safe spaces where they can be with their friends and other people, as they see these spaces as opportunities to intentionally foster connection and belonging in our communities.”

-Dr. Elisabeth Wells, Executive Director, Our Kids Network, Halton Region (Ontario) and implementing partner for the Community Child and Youth Well-being Survey

Session
Overview

Too often, decisions about children and youth are made by adults without understanding their lives, and without their involvement. The new UNICEF Canada Community Child and Youth Well-being Survey gives young people and their communities a powerful tool to understand what life is like under age 19, take collaborative action and monitor progress toward better and more equitable well-being. Monitoring the state of children and youth has never been more important, as they continue to experience the impacts of the pandemic and a “polycrisis” of financial instability and climate change. Developed with communities, for communities, this survey surfaces unique and often surprising information for local decision-makers, program and service providers, and young people themselves. Learn about UNICEF Canada’s free survey tool and examples of survey findings, communication, and action plans – and leave with exciting new ideas to improve the lives of young people and advance equity – for and with them.
